Becoming a domChapter 2
Art for your persona
A drawn persona needs art you have the right to use. Here’s how a paid artist, generated images and an existing character compare, and the two lines that never move.

Evidence
In 30 seconds
- There are three routes to a look: a paid artist, generated images, an existing character. Each trades cost, control and rights.
- Every persona is an adult in looks and setting, whatever the lore says. No platform and no rule of this wiki makes an exception.
- A real person’s face or voice is never used without that person’s consent. Several laws now treat sexual fakes of real adults as crimes.
- A studio’s character belongs to the studio, and two publishers’ own policies forbid earning money from their material.
- Check every image before it goes public, and settle credit in writing before art spreads.
You will learn
- What a paid artist, a generator and an existing character each allow and risk.
- How platforms treat drawn, generated and realistic adult art, as of 2026-11-03.
- Which laws cover sexual fakes of real people, in plain words.
- How to keep a look steady and check an image before it goes out.
- When making art for a persona is a fair gift and when it’s free labour.
Everything a sub knows about me is a picture. I chose my look once and I guard it. Before you spend anything on art, know who made it, who’s allowed to use it, and whether she’s an adult.

Three routes to a look
A personapersonaThe character a dom plays. It has a name, a look, a voice, rules and limits, and it keeps the real person apart. The persona is a performance, but the feelings of the people who meet her are real. needs a look before she needs an audience, and there are three ways to get one: a paid artist draws her, a generator makes her from a written description and reference images, or you build her on a character that already exists. Most personas mix routes sooner or later, and each route trades cost, control and rights. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. The look itself goes in the persona file, as Build a persona explains.
Three routes compared
Scroll the table sideways
| Feature | Paid artist | Generated images | Existing character |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Paid per piece, so it adds up | Tools, a plan or a strong graphics card | Cheapest to start |
| Control | The artist’s hand and your brief | Yours, through text and reference images | Set by the studio |
| Steady look | Strong, with a model sheet | Hard without a recipe | Easy, the design already exists |
| Rights | Settled if written down | Set by the tool’s terms, ownership unsettled | The studio’s |
| Trust | Credit helps | Some followers dislike it | Shared with other personas |
A paid artist. It’s the slowest and most expensive route, and the cleanest on rights when the agreement is in writing. In my experience, posts that show a human artist’s work with credit tend to do better than generated art. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. There’s no data on that, and audiences are split: some followers dislike generated art and others don’t mind. UnverifiedPlausible, not proven yet.
Before a paid artist starts
Say the work is adult and for a persona, and get a clear yes before any sketch is made.
Fix the scope, the credit and the use: how many pieces, where the artist is named, and whether stickers, products or animation are included.
Ask whether the artist uses generated images in the work, and say whether you’re fine with that.
Fix the payment, with dates, and what happens if either of you stops.
Write it in plain words you can both reread, and keep a copy.
That list names the topics. It isn’t contract wording, and this wiki can’t give you wording for your country.
Generated images. The fastest route to start and the hardest to keep steady. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. Whether you can post or sell what a tool makes depends on that tool’s terms, so read each one on adult and commercial use first. Whether anyone can own a generated image at all differs by country, and as of 2026-11-03 this wiki found no source it can cite on that. UnverifiedPlausible, not proven yet. The model matters too: Ko-fi bans AI models that were trained for prohibited adult content. VerifiedChecked against the original source.Ko-fi Content Guidelines (opens in a new tab) Accessed 3 November 2026. So a community model of unknown origin is part of your risk. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
An existing character. Lots of personas are built on a character someone else drew, and that design then guides the whole look, from the colour of the horns or outfit to a piece of clothing she always wears. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. It’s the easiest route and the riskiest. The section on studios below says why.
The two lines that never move
Adults only
Every persona is an adult in her looks and her setting, whatever the lore says. A birthday in a bio changes nothing about a drawing, so “adult by lore” doesn’t count, and a character who is a student, or looks like one, is out. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. Platform rules cover drawn and generated material as well as photos.
- Throne bans any sexualised depiction of minors, including anime and manga characters meant to resemble minors. VerifiedChecked against the original source. What’s allowed in my profile text and images? (opens in a new tab) Accessed 3 November 2026.

Check every image for child-like proportions, faces and settings, and throw out what fails. Don’t try to fix it. An adult character also says nothing about who’s watching, because a drawing can’t check anyone’s age. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
No real person without consent
Never use a real person’s face or voice without their consent. That covers a photo used as a reference, a real name typed into a prompt, and a voice cloned from a performer, even when that voice speaks as a cartoon. Cloning a licensed character’s official voice for something you sell is a rights risk too, and this wiki doesn’t call it standard practice. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.

This chapter isn’t legal advice. The laws below are summed up in plain words, so read the texts or ask a lawyer where you live.

| United States | It’s a federal crime to knowingly publish, on an online service, a digital forgery of an identifiable adult without consent. These laws are written around a real person who is identified or who appears to be shown. A clearly invented character is a different case, but a lookalike of a real person is the one to avoid, and whether an image falls inside the law is a question for a lawyer. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. If someone makes a fake of you, the same rules work for you, and Discord offers a removal process where local law gives you that right. A studio’s character is the studio’s
Using a famous character feels free because the tools already know her. She isn’t free: the studio owns the design. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. Publishers say in their own words what fans may do.
- Microsoft’s game content rules say that an item made with its material cannot be sold or earn any compensation, including through ads, and cannot be pornographic or lewd. VerifiedChecked against the original source.Game Content Usage Rules (opens in a new tab) Accessed 3 November 2026.

Those two pages speak for two companies only. Other studios have other policies, so read the one that applies to you. A persona that sells content or earns from pages built on a studio’s character is exactly what these policies forbid, and nobody has promised to tolerate it. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
That’s a business risk too. A character you don’t own can leave your page the day her owner objects, and the account that carried her can go with her. She’s also shared with other personas, so the look is never fully yours. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
Keeping the look steady
A steady look is the hardest technical problem for a generated persona. The method that works is short. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
A recipe that keeps a look
Make a character sheet first: front, side and back views of one design, always an adult.
Write a fixed description: hair, eyes, ears or horns, build.
For each image, add a short paragraph for the outfit and scene, and give a reference image with the instruction to keep its exact design but ignore its pose and background.
Pick one tool and one recipe, because mixing sources breaks the look.
Save the prompt of every image you like, because old prompts exist nowhere else.
A custom add-on model, called a LoRALoRAA small add-on model trained so an image generator reproduces one character or style. It keeps a persona’s look steady across images. It needs a set of consistent images and some technical work, and plenty of people can manage that. A LoRA trained on a real person’s face without consent, or on a studio’s character sold as free to use, crosses a line of this wiki., keeps a character identical in every pose, but getting there takes a long stretch of bugs and tuning. Generated art also ages as models change, so many doms keep old-style and new-style images in separate folders. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
Two habits keep you out of trouble. Private tests stay private. A tool that copies the pose of an existing illustration, or that pulls reference images by tag and copies their prompts, can slide into art theft once you post what it makes. Nothing derived from a named artist’s work should go public. Don’t put a living artist’s name in a prompt either, because it borrows their style. Build the look on your own recipe. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
Video costs more than stills. A failed attempt costs as much as a good one, and clips are made in short segments and joined, so lots of personas only post a video now and then. A persona also runs at a loss before it earns, so budget the tools against money you actually have, and never pay for them out of a sub’s sends in a way that pressures him. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. Strip hidden traces from every export, as Stay anonymous explains.

A realistic style changes which rules apply to you, as the last Patreon line shows. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.

VerifiedChecked against the original source.Authenticity (includes the Synthetic and Manipulated Media rules; the old manipulated-media help URL now redirects here) (opens in a new tab) Accessed 3 November 2026. A drawn character shown as a drawn character fools nobody about what she is. A generated face passed off as a real woman does. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
Who owns what
When someone else makes the art, they may see it as theirs and expect credit, while you see it as the persona’s body. Agree who owns it and who gets credit before the pictures spread. Borrowing another persona’s art is fine with permission, and permission is the difference between that and theft. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study.
Subs sometimes make fan art or generated images of their dom as a tribute, and some doms give image making to a sub as a task. A task is a fair gift of skill only when the sub chose the scope, can say no without losing his place, and gets thanked. Otherwise it’s free labour dressed up as devotion. Vivian’s field notesFirst-hand experience, not a study. Throne says its wishlists can’t be used to exchange goods or services, including commissions.
